Michael Jackson, 68, of Mitchell, Illinois, passed away on January 24, 2026.

Michael was known as the life of the party and a true jack of all trades. He was intelligent, resourceful, and could fix just about anything. Known and loved by many, he had a way of bringing people together with his humor, stories, and presence.

Michael spent 30 years as a dedicated employee of the Illinois American Water Company, where he was respected for his strong work ethic, reliability, and skill.

Being with his wife, Jody, brought Michael immense joy. He treasured their time together — the simple, everyday moments that meant the most. Whether it was taking long car rides with Puppy, making their daily trips to Goodwill, or just being side by side, those moments were where he was happiest.

Michael was a devoted father who deeply loved his three children and was incredibly proud of the people they became. His love for them was constant and unwavering, and family always came first.

In his free time, Michael loved golfing, fishing, and playing pool. He especially enjoyed spending time with his friends at the local bar, where laughter, stories, and friendships were always shared.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jody Jackson; his three children, Matt Jackson (Crystal), Kelly Coy (Jesse), and Becky Nannen (Ben); his siblings, Marsha Hayes, Tom Waugh and Jim Waugh; his in-laws and their spouses, Rick, Christie, and Marsha; his eight grandchildren, Scout, Kenley, Willow, Indie, Cora, Huck, Owyn, and Tillie; as well as several nieces and nephews. His grandchildren brought him immense joy, and he especially loved making them laugh and creating memories they will carry with them always.

Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine; his father, Robert; and his brother, David.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL.

In celebration of his life, Michael’s funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL. Michael will be laid to rest at Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights, IL.

Memorial donations may be given to Granite City A.P.A. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
