
Michael 'Mike' S. Henkhaus, II, 51, of Bethalto, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2020, suddenly at his residence of natural causes.
He was born on July 8, 1968 in Alton, the son of Michael S. 'Mick' and Kimberly Henkhaus of Bethalto and Geraldine R. (Bremer) and the late Ellis Bandy of Piedmont, MO. He married Lisa J. Null, daughter of the late Larry Null and Helen Null of Bethalto, on August 26, 1988 in Edwardsville.
Mike is a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a route driver for Lewis Bakery 'Bunny Bread' for over 26 years. He enjoyed fishing, K-SHE music, spending time with his friends and family, and making those around him smile and laugh.
Along with his parents and wife, Lisa, Mike is survived by his children, Amber and Jonathan Warren of Florida, Michael Henkhaus and Jessica Pruitt of Cottage Hills, and Megan Henkhaus of Bethalto; grandchildren, Elsie and Caroline Warren; brother/sisters/brothers-in-law, Matt and Janice Henkhaus of Bethalto, Tina and Lester Withers of Cottage Hills, Robin and Tim Lehr of Bethalto, and Kristal Null of Bethalto; nieces and nephews, Brendan Henkhaus of Bethalto, Morgan Henkhaus of Bethalto, Shawn Withers of Kentucky, Heather Withers of Cottage Hills, Mat and Winston Lehr of Granite City, Jacob and Lauren Lehr of Edwardsville, Christian Lehr of Bethalto, and Luke and Ami Null of East Alton; a great nephew, Jamison Lehr of Edwardsville; aunt, Jeannie and Tom Nelson; and uncle Edward L. F. Bremer, II.
He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, J. Kenneth and Nina Henkhaus, and Edward and Claribell (Werner) Bremer; and an uncle, John Henkhaus.
Due to Covid-19 distancing regulations, a drive thru memorial visitation will be from 1 to 3pm, Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. The family will be around the building, so you can express your sympathy, we ask you please do not stop for long periods of time, to keep the traffic flowing. There will be memorial envelopes for those who wish to leave one. Please also be sure to enter the parking lot off of Route 140 and follow the path we have marked.
The family will have a celebration of life at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.
