Morris Eugene "Gene" King, 82, died at 5:00 a.m., Friday, October 28, 2011 at Jerseyville Manor Nursing Home after a period of declining health.He was born in Jerseyville on Aug. 2, 1929, and was the son of the late Frank Thomas & Lillie Mae (Hawkins) King.He began his employment at Alton Box Board in Godfrey, and continued there through their transformation to Mead Packaging retiring as a supervisor after 40 years of service.He was formerly married to Lela Mae Woolsey, and together the two had two sos, Ronald & Larry King.Surviving are a son & daughter in law, Larry & Linda King of Jerseyville; a daughter in law, LaVonne King of Carrollton; six grandchildren & their spouses, Shawn King of Jerseyville, Jayson & Jenny King of Jerseyville, Jamie (King) Anderson of Jerseyville, Micah & Mandy King of Gillespie, Aaron King of Carrollton, Vonna Rose (King) and Kerry Green of Biloela, Queensland, Australia; 11 Great Grandchildren, Savannah King, Tanner & Liberty King, Caitlin, Corey & Chelsea King, Claire & Brooke Anderson, Aurora King, Layla & Lameah Green; a brother & sister in law, Ralph & Betty King of Jerseyville; two sisters & brothers in law, Lois & Paul Otto of Alton,  Barbara & Gerald Cates of Fieldon; a sister in law, Mildred King of Brighton; and his companion, Julie Weaver of Jerseyville.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Eugene King of July 11, 2004; a grandson, Kip E. King on July 25, 1994; two sisters & brothers in law, Dorothy & John Chandler, Shirley & Bob Neikirk; a brother, William King; and a brother & sister in infancy, Edward & Virginia King.Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday .  Rev. Robert Blaine will officiate.Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.Memorials may be given to St. Anthony's Hospice or to the American Diabetes Association.
