Patsy L. Moore, 92, died at 1:48 a.m., Sunday, May 10, 2026, at Jerseyville Manor Nursing Home.

She was born in Jerseyville on November 4, 1933, she was one of three children born to the late Clifford "Basket" and Thelma (Woolsey) Alexander.

She graduated from Jersey Community High School, and spent the majority of her working years in the health care field, first as an instructor with Gradwhol School of Laboratory Technique in St. Louis, as well as many years at Christian Hospital Northeast.

Her love and kindness was evident throughout her life, whether it be caring for others in the workplace, assisting in every capacity at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Piasa where she was a loyal and longtime member, caring for her greatest joy in her life, her family.

With her sweet disposition, Patsy had a way of making everyone feel comfortable and loved.  Her strong faith in the Lord helped carry her through battles with both breast cancer and several years of bone cancer.

She married Gene Edwin "Pete" Moore on February 3, 1951, at the home of his parents in Piasa, and together they shared 52 years of marriage prior to his death on September 8, 2003.

Surviving are a daughter and son in-law, Valerie and David Mourning of Wood River; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Dan) Hesselbacher of O'Fallon, Il., and Jeff (Melly) Mourning of East Alton; three great grandchildren, Cassandra Mourning, Sofia Hesselbacher and Vanessa Mourning; a sister, Ruth Cory of Jerseyville; a sister in-law, Becky Alexander of Grafton; along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Charles Alexander; her father in-law and mother in-law, Herbert and Ruth Moore; a brother in-law, Ronald Cory; and his brother and sister in-law, Donald and Lurlene Moore, Herbert and Ruth Moore, and Ida Mae and John Marmino.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of funeral services at 12 noon on Monday, May 18, 2026 at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Rev. John Shelton will officiate.

She will be laid to rest in Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.

Memorials may be given to either Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Piasa or American Cancer Society.

Patsy set a lifetime example of kindness and love to everyone, and she will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
