Paul Snider

Paul Eugene Snider, 92, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 8:35 p.m. Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. Born October 20, 1925 in White Water, MO, he was the son of Charles and Bertha (Liles) Snider. In 1943 he graduated from Delta High School in Delta, MO. He honorably served in the U.S. Army during WWII in Japan. Following his military service, he studied agriculture in college funded by the GI Bill. He and his wife farmed land near Whitewater, MO before moving to this area. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Jerseyville and the Bethalto Masonic Lodge #406. He retired in 1987 as a sheet metal worker for McDonnell Douglas after over 30 years of service. On August 7, 1948 he married the former Doris Hawkins in Piggott, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on January 31, 2018. Surviving is a daughter, Paula Wildt of Godfrey, a son, Frank Snider of Bethalto, five grandchildren, Ashley Wallis (Jeffrey), Allison Wildt, Brett Wildt (Nicole), Kelly Foushee, and Melinda Weber (Ty), five great grandchildren, Taylor Wildt, Elizabeth Wildt, Ella Wallis, Jackson Wallis, and Cardin Weber, and a sister, Bessie Shrum (William) of St. Louis, MO. Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Anne Rose Snider, a son-in-law, Kevin Michael Wildt and a grandson-in-law, Tony Foushee. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. with a Masonic service at 6:30 p.m., Friday, February 9, 2018 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018. Reverend Larry Hayes and Reverend Carl Hayes will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto with full military honors by the VFW Post 1308.
