Paul Longbottom

Our beloved husband, friend, father and retired Alton Asst. Fire Chief Paul Nelson Longbottom of Jerseyville Il died at the age of seventy(70) on Saturday September 19, 2015.  Paul was born in Dubuque, Iowa on May 16, 1945.  He was a graduate of South Western High School in Piasa, Il.  Also, he had an AA degree from Porterville Community College and a degree in Fire Science from Lewis and Clark. Paul was a Navy Vietnam War veteran.  He was also a Member of the VFW 1308 in Alton Illinois, the Illinois Retired Fire Fighter Association and the Illinois Fire Fighter Association Alumni.  At the time of his death Paul was serving as the President of the Alton Fire Department’s Retirees. 

Memorial/Viewing will be held on Friday September 25^th at Alexander & Gubser Funeral home in Jerseyville from noon-2pm.  The family is encouraging anyone that would like to speak about Paul to feel welcome to do so. 

Paul is survived by wife Kitty Longbottom of Jerseyville, Il, son Robert Paul Longbottom and wife Shannon of Crystal Lake Il, daughter Dawn Marie Geninatti (Longbottom) & husband Nicholas of Bowbells ND.  Paul is also survived by sister Mary Tickner (Longbottom) of Wood River, Il & brother Floyd Longbottom of Rio Rancho, New Mexico.  Paul is preceded by father Carlton Edward Longbottom Sr., mother Mariane Josephin Stoeffler, brother John Thomas Longbottom, sister Anna Darlene Longbottom (Summers), brother Carlton Edward Longbottom Jr.  & sister Karen Hunter.
