Phyllis Voumard

Phyllis Eunice (Russell) Voumard of Godfrey, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 27, 2026 at the age of 88, with her family by her side.

Born on November 29, 1937 in Alton, IL, Phyllis was the daughter of Laverne A. Russell and Virginia K. Russell, they had 3 children. Phyllis, Jeanette & Richard.

Phyllis graduated from Alton Senior High School and attended the Alton Memorial School of Nursing. Then went on to work at Dr.’s DuVivier, Pierce & Humphrey for several years and then worked for Mississippi Lime Company for 30+ years where she retired from. She had many co-workers that became very close friends.

On January 27,1968 she married Harlan E. Voumard (he proceeded her in death January 23, 1996). Together they had 2 children Russell (Rusty) and Patricia (Tricia) and built a life filled with love, laughter and many memories of their Branson vacations and family gatherings. Family was always very important to Phyllis as well as her animals. She loved her dogs and cats, was even known to pick up a stray or two. She later became a “Grandma”. This was her greatest joy of all! She loved and supported each of her 5 grandchildren (Colby, Cassie, Meghan, Kaitlyn & Emma) to the fullest. Attending school events, soccer, baseball or whatever they were involved in. She was their biggest fan and their best friend! She then became a Great Grandma to 5 (Aria, Leighton, Dakota, Tacoma & Camden), she loved them dearly!

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Laverne A. Russell and Virginia K. Russell, brother Richard H. Russell and brother in-law’s Milton Simpson and Edward Voumard Sr.

She is survived by her daughter Tricia (Brian) Sisk, son, Rusty (Kathi) Voumard, grandchildren Colby (Ashley) Sisk, Cassie Sisk, Meghan (Brian) Morris, Kaitlyn (Spencer) Marfell and Emma Voumard. Great grand-children Aria Peipert, Leighton Sisk, Camden Sisk, Dakota Marfell and Tacoma Marfell, sister Jeanette Simpson, sister in-law’s Bea Voumard and JoAnn Voumard-Bloodworth, many nieces, nephews, and other family members that will miss her dearly!

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to noon and funeral service will immediately follow at noon at Gent’s Funeral Home in Alton.

Burial will take place at Upper Alton Cemetery in Alton, Illinois.

Phyllis will be remembered for her kindness and her love of her family, friends and pets. In memory of her, donations can be made to the 5A’s-Alton Area Animal Aid Association or Faith Fellowship Church.
