Richard Hawkins

Richard A. Hawkins, 53, died at 8:15 p.m. Monday, November 1, 2010 at his home in Wood River. 

Born September 7, 1957 in Alton, he was the son of George and Myrtle (Roark) Hawkins.  He was a union painter for 34 years and a member of the Local 471 in Alton. 

Surviving is his loving friend and caregiver, Sherri Russell of Wood River, two brothers, George Hawkins Jr. of Pontoon Beach and Gary Hawkins of West Alton, MO, two sisters, Jane Page of Alton and Norma Hawkins of Florida as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters. 

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton.  Reverend Dr. Richard Turner will officiate. 

Burial will be private at Ebenezer Cemetery in West Alton, MO. 

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
