Robert “Big Bob the Ogre” Sparks, 59, passed away at 3:11 am, November 28, 2016, at his home in Alton.He was born December 17, 1956, in Wood River Township, the son of Robert James and Peggy Ann (Brewer) Sparks. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Sally R. (Wills) Sparks, who he married on December 11, 1981, in Edwardsville, Illinois.Robert worked for Foster Township as a machine operator, Olin Corp., for 8 years, doing ballistics testing, and also for Bethalto Star. He served as Battalion Chief for the Cottage Hills Fire Department for 11 years as well. Bob spent his free time enjoying music, and for the past 10 years, ran sound and lighting for local bands in the area. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.In addition to his wife, survivors include five children and their spouses, Robert Jr. and Jenny Sparks of Trenton, Missouri, Jennifer Sparks and Aaron Bright of Trenton, Missouri, Jon Sparks and Trisha Inman of Sullivan, Missouri, Tony and Amanda Sparks of Alton, Illinois, Sam Sparks and Logan Graham of Rosewood Heights, Illinois; eleven grandchildren; one great granddaughter; three sisters and their spouses, Kathy and Russ Swarington, Paula and Ron Wagonblast, Debbie Hawkins, all of Eldorado, IL; and one brother, Jimmy Sparks.He was preceded in death by his parents.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm, Thursday, December 1, 2016, at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.Funeral service will be 10 am, Friday, December 2, 2016, at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Drury.Burial will follow at Liberty Prairie Cemetery in Edwardsville.Memorials may be made to Bob’s Family.An online condolence and guest book may be found at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com
