Ret. MSgt. Robert “Bob” Allan Hefferly, 89, of Collinsville, IL, born on January 14, 1937, in St. Louis, MO, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Addington Place in Shiloh, IL.

Bob was lifelong military man, having joined the Army Reserves after retiring as MSgt. from the Air Force. Beyond his military career, he cared for others, both family and stranger, by donating blood and plasma to the American Red Cross and serving with the Faith & Action Organization of Collinsville and Meals on Wheels. Bob was also a big sports fan rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals, Illini basketball, and Notre Dame. This love was also shared with his children where Bob coached Khoury League for his son and was referee for elementary school basketball games. In his downtime, Bob could be found reading anything he could find.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Julia Hefferly (nee Plonis); his brother, Donald Hefferly; and one sister, Julianna Bode.

Left to cherish Bob’s memory are his beloved wife, Barbara Hefferly (nee Hippy) of Collinsville, IL; two children, Deborah (Brian) Pope, Dr. Michael (Jennifer) Hefferly; one sister, Patricia Carpenter; two grandchildren, Victoria (Logan) Corpron, Neal Pope; and one great-grandchild on the way.

There will be a graveside service on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 11:30 a.m., at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery; 2900 Sheridan Rd., St. Louis, MO 63125.
