Robert Grace Sr

Robert Lamar Grace, Sr., 84, passed away Monday, July 23, 2012 at Alton Memorial Hospital.

  Born Feb. 9, 1928 in Alton, he was the son of Lloyd and Edna (Gleason) Grace.

  He married Dorothy L. Prather Feb. 1, 1948 in Alton.  She passed away June 28, 2003.

  A member of Friendship General Baptist Church in East Alton, he worked as a crane mechanic for Laclede Steel for 36 years, retiring in 1983.

  Surviving are a son, Rob (Beth) Grace of Union, Mo.; two daughters, Penny (Don) Forshee of Winona, Minn., and Jo (Bob) McLoughlin of Wood River; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

  In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lloyd Grace.

  Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, July 26 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 27. 

  Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

  Memorials may be given to BJC Hospice.
