Robert Prestenback

Robert "Bob" L. Prestenback, 75, passed away October 19, 2026 at Nexus of Wood River.

Born March 23, 1951 in Weeks Island, New Iberia, LA the son of Roy Joseph and Mary (Granger) Prestenback. Bob was raised by Ferdie and Hazel (Major) Prestenback who preceded him in death.

A U.S. Army veteran, he had worked as an off-shore deck hand and derrick man in the oil industry before retiring. Bob also volunteered on the Red Cross Disaster Relief Team.

On July 28, 1990 in Louisiana, he married Brenda L. Weemse. She survives.

Surviving also are three daughters, Mary M. Prestenback, Heather D. Prestenback, and Tara Prestenback; styep-daughter, Tina M. Stromain; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a sister, JoAnne Badan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Wayne Joseph Prestenback.

Graveside service and burial will be conducted at 1 pm, Thursday, October 22 in Woodland Hill Cemetery in East Alton. Pastor Joe Dunnagan will officiate.
