
Robert “Bob” L. Zoelzer, Sr., age 91, of Edwardsville, IL, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL. Bob was born in Edwardsville, IL, on February 22, 1935, the son of the late Oscar & Nellie (Smith) Zoelzer.
Bob married Ana Paulina Zoelzer on December 18, 1963, at Eden Church in Edwardsville. Bob and Paulina were married for almost 60 years before her passing on June 9, 2022.
Bob is survived by his two sons, Elmer Ralph Harris III & wife Ana, of Edwardsville, IL, and Robert L. Zoelzer, Jr., & wife Sheree, of Edwardsville, IL; two grandsons, Brandon Harris, of St. Louis, MO, and Zakary Zoelzer, of Edwardsville, IL.
Besides his parents and wife, Bob was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Zoelzer and Jimmie Zoelzer.
Bob was a veteran of the US Army serving from 1958 to 1960. Bob’s passions were hunting, fishing, golfing and traveling. Bob loved sharing all these activities with his family. He and Paulina loved the Florida sun and enjoyed Pensacola life for 10 years in the winter seasons. Whether it be hunting, fishing, playing golf or tennis, Bob’s sons could often be found with him while growing up.
The game of golf, in particular, was his greatest passion, and he took special pride in sharing his love of the game with his grandsons, Brandon and Zak. The lessons he taught them and the memories they made on the course remain with them today, as both continue to enjoy the game he cherished so much.
Bob was part of the first graduating class at SIUE in 1966. He received a degree in accounting that year and earned his CPA from The University of Illinois. He began his career with former Scheffel & Company, now Scheffel Boyle that year and had a successful run of 30 years until retiring in 1996. Bob will be truly missed by his family and friends. He was one of a kind. Fly high pops, we love you and will never forget you!!
According to Bob’s wishes he will be cremated and a private family service will be held at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville. Condolences may be expressed online at weberfuneralhome.com.
