Ronald Yates

Ronald P. "Ronnie" Yates, 68, of Wood River, died on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at his residence.

Mr. Yates was born to Grace (Kienstra) Rider and James "Doc" Yates in July of 1950.

He retired from Ingram Barge Lines in 2013 after 12 years as a Chief Engineer. He was the owner and proprietor of Yates Steakhouse in downtown Wood River in the 1980s and 1990s. He was a Vietnam Veteran.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 30 years, Jennifer M. Yates; a son, Jeremy Yates; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Sandra Yates; two step-sons, Ron Dublo and Jeff Dublo; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved beagles, Isabelle, Hushpuppy, Dakota and Blue.

Both of his parents precede him death.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 8, 2019, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton. Military burial rites will be provided by Alton VFW #1308.

A private family burial will be held at a later date at Woodland Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be donated to the 5A's Animal Shelter in Alton, IL.
