Rose Wieckhorst

Rose Jane Wieckhorst, 86, died at 3:25 a.m. on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 University Health Center in Edwardsville.  She was born October 28, 1930 in Wood River, IL the daughter of Michael Frank and Anna (Kostyshock) Petrekovich.  She was a housekeeper for 25  years at Lewis and Clark Elementary School in Wood River, and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.   She enjoyed playing bingo, and going to Argosy Casino with her sister, Mary Smith. Surviving is a daughter, Cindy McGuire (Harold) of Alton and two sons, Rick Weickhorst (Sandy) of Wood River, and Mike Weickhorst (Barb) of Alton, seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and a sister, Mary Smith of Cottage Hills.  Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Karla Sutton.   Visitation will be from 2:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton.  A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 30, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.  Father Jeremy Paulin Officiating.   Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.  Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
