Sharon Murray

Sharon L. Murray, 91, died Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville.

Born August 6, 1934 in Alton, she was the daughter of Frank and Rose (Betz) Henderson. 

On August 1, 1953 she married Raymond Murray in Alton. He preceded her in death on March 17, 2012.

Mrs. Murray had worked for the State of Illinois and later retired from Alton Memorial Hospital. 

Surviving are three sons, Bruce Murray (Beth) of Brighton, David Murray of Bethalto and Thomas “Tom” Murray of Bethalto, seven grandchildren, Brian Murray (Michelle), Tim Murray (Marisa), Katy Snyder (Troy), Tyler Murray (Lauren), Jessica Wieseman (Joe), Alyssa Mackiney (Jack), and Reid Murray and 12 great grandchildren and a sister, Mary Tretter of Edwardsville. 

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Dana Murray, a sister, Patty Adler and two brothers, Chuck and Frank Henderson. 

Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, October 31, 2025 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton and continue from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, November 1, 2025. 

Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery.
