Sharon Steward, 67, passed away at 1:39 p.m. on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at her residence with her family by her side. She was born on June 4, 1957, in Alton, the daughter of the late Clifford and Pauline (Lewis) Hyman. She married Louis “Chuck” Steward, Jr. on June 1, 1975, and he survives. Other survivors include three sons and daughters in law: Kenneth and Annette Steward of Bethalto, Keith and Amy Steward of Bunker Hill, Korey and Kim Steward of Collinsville, five grandchildren: Jacob, Avery, Kendyll, Parker, Tanner, five sisters and four brothers in law: Janice Hyman of Alton, Donna and Michael Mellenthin of Bunker Hill, Brenda and Lloyd Knight of Bethalto, Mary and Gary Gerdt of Roxana, Cathy and Ed Campagna of Alton, two brothers and sisters in law: Clifford and Kim Hyman of Brighton, Michael and Kathleen Hyman of Alton, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.

Sharon was employed at Kmart for 38 years prior to her retirement. She and Chuck are members of the Salvation Army in Alton. Sharon loved flowers, going to Branson, watching Gunsmoke, and spending time with her family.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 11, 2024, at the funeral home. Captains Sean and Cassy Gray will officiate. Burial will follow at Upper Alton Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army and will be accepted at the funeral home.
