Sharon Voyles

Sharon K. Voyles, 84, passed away at 5:00 pm on Friday, September 18, 2026 at LaBella in Alton.

She was born on January 5, 1942 in Alton, Illinois to Alvin and Berniece (Burns) Gregory. She married Larry Voyles at Meadowbrook First Southern Baptist Church. He survives.

Sharon worked as a secretary for the church for over 25 years. After her time at the church, she worked as a secretary for Southern Illinios University Edwardsville for another 18 years before retiring. Sharon was a devoted follower of Jesus, and preached her faith to anyone she could find. She was a lifelong member of Meadowbrook First Southern Baptist Church and also taught Sunday School for many years. Her love for her Lord was only matched by her love for her family. She always strived to do all she could for them, including staying up all night to bake 24 of her famous pumpkin pies every Thanksgiving with her son, Derek. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed.

In addition to her husband, Larry, Sharon is survived by her children, Missy (Aaron) Voyles-Mehrhoff, Derek (Marcela) Voyles, Nicki (Melissa Clayton) Voyles, Ashley (Michael) Riegert, and Karissa Hill; a sister, Colette (Terry) Weldon; her grandchildren, Cody Monroe, Brittany (Austin) McClain, Chloe (Zach) Dotson, Morgan Voyles, and Adriana Voyles; her great-grandchildren, Thayer and Holden Riegert, Kai Hill, Brynlee Littleton, and Noah Dotson; as well as too many beloved friends and extended family members to mention.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, Mece (the late Arlee) Voyles-Clark, and Donald Gregory.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 from 4pm to 7pm at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at 11am, at Meadowbrook First Southern Baptist Church. Pastor Kevin Auten will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
