Shirley Handling

Shirley Ann Handling, of Brighton, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026.

She was born on January 23, 1935, in Jerseyville, the daughter of the late Earl and Elizabeth (Coleman) Downs.

Shirley married Francis Handling on January 8, 1955. He preceded her in death on October 23, 2018.

She was a home maker, who loved spending her time with her family and reading.

Shirley is survived by her son, Jack Handling of Brighton; sister Jean (Colin) Mandorca of Brighton; brother in law Robert (Joyce) Handling of Brighton; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Elizabeth; husband, Francis; brother Jack (Louise) Handling.

Per her wishes cremation rites have been accorded and entrusted to Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton.

No services are scheduled with a private burial at Brighton Cemetery.
