Shirley Foote

Shirley M. Foote, 84, of Glen Carbon, Illinois passed away at 4:29 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2019 at her home.  She was born April 2, 1935 in Roodhouse, Illinois, a daughter of the late Frank and Hazel (May) Cockrill.  She married Joseph F. Foote Sr. on June 27, 1953 in Venice, Illinois and he passed away on August 20, 2006.  She retired from the Venice School District after many years of dedicated service as a secretary in the superintendent’s office.  She enjoyed her days of fishing and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.  She is survived by a son, Joseph Foote Jr. of Glen Carbon; a grandson, Christopher Foote; a granddaughter, Krista Thomas; several great grandchildren; a brother, William Cockrill of Edwardsville; a sister and brother-in-law, Ina Mae and Robert Ponce of Edwardsville; other extended family and friends.  In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, William Foote.

In celebration of her life, a graveside service will be held at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon on Friday, July 12, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Barry Jellen officiating.  Memorials may be made to VITAS Hospice or to the American Cancer Society.  Professional services entrusted to Irwin Chapel of Glen Carbon.  www.irwinchapel.com
