Stephen Reinhardt

Stephen M. Reinhardt, 73, of Belleville, IL, born November 27, 1952, in Belleville, IL, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Stephen was a member of the United Mine Workers Union who worked as a heavy machine operator for Peabody Coal and retired after 25 years of service. He later worked Black Beauty Coal in Southern Indiana. Stephen loved the thrill of finding a good bargain when antiquing, going to garage sales, and going to flea markets. He also enjoyed being outdoors, cutting his grass, and collecting Belleville and Stag memorabilia. Above anything else, Stephen adored his grandsons and his granddog, Fergie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Winfred and Marilyn, nee Miller, Reinhardt.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 53 years, Susan Reinhardt, nee Silch; three daughters, Angie Reinhardt (Eric Bernard), Amy (Chris) Breeck, and Jenny Reinhardt; three grandchildren, Brandon Kinzel (Chelsea), Logan Rice, and Thomas Breeck; seven siblings, Cathy Reinhardt, Gary Reinhardt, Jackie (Fred) Reinhardt, Mary (Keith) Granda, Laurie (Mike) Renner, Tommy Reinhardt, and Caroline (Brian) Doiron; a brother-in-law, Randy (Linda) Silch; his granddog, Fergie; many nieces and nephews; and many loyal friends and neighbors.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, October 12, 2026, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

According to Stephen’s wishes, cremation services will be held.
