Steven Anderson

Steven D. “Andy” Anderson, 77, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away at 2:10 a.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Evercare of Granite City.

He was born December 7, 1948, in Maryville, Illinois, the son of the late Mary (Moly) Anderson. Andy married the love of his life, Dorothy May (Needham) Anderson, on March 9, 1968, in Maryville. She preceded him in death on August 13, 2017.

Andy retired from Granite City Steel after many years of dedicated service as an iron worker. A proud veteran of the United States Army, he served his country during the Vietnam War as a helicopter mechanic. He found great joy in fishing and was especially talented in woodworking.

He is survived by a son, Jason Anderson of Granite City; two grandchildren, Courtney Colson and Zach Anderson; two great-grandchildren, Greyson Colson and Breydon Colson; and many extended family members and friends.

In addition to his beloved wife of 49 years and his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Greg Anderson, and a sister, Marcy Anderson.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
