Teresa Shryock

Teresa Susan Shryock, 61, passed unexpectedly June 26, 2026 at her home.

Teresa was born on May 30, 1965 in Alton Illinois, the daughter of Joan and William “Bill” Haun.

Teresa was raised in East Alton IL and graduated from Roxana High School in 1983. She graduated from the Radiologic Technology Department at Southwestern IL College and began work in St. Louis as a Radiographer. She then continued her health career at IV and Respiratory Care in Belleville IL, where she worked for many years.

She married the love of her life, William “Burney” Shryock on September 14, 1991 at the United Methodist Church in Wood River. Together they shared 35 years of marriage building a home filled with love, good music and some very spoiled cats (Sabbath, and now Tanner and Raven) all who Teresa adored and very lovingly called "her kids". She was very instrumental in coordinating her father's care and a stickler for details. She was a loving and caring aunt to her nephews Jacob and Luke, always very interested in their lives. She had a dear friend from childhood, Tara, and truly cherished their friendship.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her husband William “Burney” Shryock; her father William “Bill” Haun; brother Mark (Karla) Haun; nephews Jacob Haun of Cape Girardeau, MÔ and Luke (Heather) Haun of Highland IL; and her step father-in-law, Steve Dinyer of Lake St. Louis, MO.

She was preceded in death by her mother Joan Haun (nee: Welch); grandparents. Charles and Olive Welch and William and Nettie Haun; her uncle, Dennis Welch; and her mother-in-law, Carla Dinyer.

Memorial Visitation will be Tuesday, July 7 at Paynic Home for Funerals from 2 p.m. until services begin at 4 p.m.  Burial will be at a later date at Woodland Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to ASPCA to honor Teresa’s love of animals.
