Truman Forbes

Truman "Jerry" Gerald Forbes, 86, passed away at 4:55 am on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at Alton Memorial Hospital.

He was born on September 6, 1938 in East Alton, IL to Calvin and Vivian (Clowers) Forbes.

Jerry married Noreen Dixon on January 21, 1989 in St. Louis, MO.

He worked as an electrician at SIUE. He was a member of IBEW 649. He was a member of Church of Christ in Godfrey, IL. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and playing tennis. He was a proud member of United States Army.

Jerry is survived by loving wife, Noreen; children, Becky (Ernie) Gettings, Donna (David) Herrmann, David Forbes (fiancé, Brenda Zook), Jeffery Forbes, Greg (Lisa) Fowler, and Mike (Connie) Fowler; grandchildren, Kimberly Minner, Jessica (Brandon) Maggic, Sarah Herrmann, Hannah Herrmann, Abigail Herrmann, Brian Gettings, Nick (Chelsea) Fowler, and Lexy (Brandon) Weiss, Josh Taylor; great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Sophia, Daniela, Tyler, Olin, Noah, Oliver, Waylon, and Weston; one great-great-grandchildren, Watson; three sisters and two brothers; Barbara Kunz, Beatrice Forbes, Sandy Bennington, Dale Forbes, and Giles Clowers.

He was preceded in death by his parents Calvin and Dorothy Forbes, and Vivian (Sherwood) Clowers, sisters Tina Roberts, Janice Davis, brother Jimmy Clowers, and grandsons Steven J. Minner II and Chris Gettings.

Cremation rites have been accorded by Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL.

Burial will take place at Valhalla Memorial Park, Godfrey, IL.
