Vickie O'Connell

Vickie J. O’Connell, 74 of Glen Carbon, Illinois passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.

Vickie was born on April 13, 1945 in East St. Louis; the daughter of the late John and Mary (Easterley) Anderson. Vickie was a homemaker and of Catholic faith who loved family gatherings, especially with her grandchildren, whom she loved and adored. In her free time, Vickie enjoyed her days of crafts and painting and will be remembered for all the special times she shared with her family and friends.

Vickie is survived by and will be missed by her children; Sonny and Deborah O’Connell of Parsons, KS, Gaylynn and Scott Hurst of Glen Carbon, IL, Shelly and Bobby Slaner of O’Fallon, IL, Beth O’Connell of Glen Carbon, IL; grandchildren, Scott Jr., Ashleigh, Casey, Lauren, Mandie, Kelsie, Shelby, Sidney, Dalton, Karigan, Isaiah; great-grandchildren, Bryson, Aleigha, Brayden, Carson, Easton, Karmyn, Khloe, Ashlyn “A.J.”, Brooklyn, Avery, Mason, Emerson, Briar; sisters, Susan Dewolf, Hope Stevens Stafford, Sharon Martin and many other close family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, Vickie was preceded in death by her husband; Harry Edward “Sonny” O’Connell; her step-dad, Richard Seidler; grandson, Brendon O’Connell.

In celebration of Vickie’s life, visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon. Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Memorial donations are suggested to the National Autism Association or the American Cancer Society.
