William Booth

William L. Booth, 79, died at 5:57 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Eunice Smith Home in Alton. Born September 16, 1933 in Belleview, IL, he was the son of Chester L. and Lettie A. (Martin) Booth. He attended Faith Baptist Church in Godfrey and retired from Owens-Illinois in Alton as a millwright. On November 1, 1953 he married Carole Jean Lachner at Cherry Street Baptist Church in Alton. She preceded him in death on January 1, 2007. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Kym Booth of Alton, and Ronald and Jane Booth of Brighton, five grandchildren, Joshua Booth of Alton, Kelsey Booth of Alton, Tim (Danail) Shelton of Brighton, Stephanie (Vance) Pruiett of Brighton, and Kevin Shelton of Brighton, four great grandchildren, a sister, Melba Knott of Temple, TX, and a brother, Gary Booth of West York, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a sister, Shirley Foiles, and a brother, Sam Booth. Visitation will be from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 8, 2013. Reverend Tom Olney will officiate.
