William Sr.

William Manns Sr., 83, died at 2:20 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at OSF St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton. Born April 6, 1935 in Alton, he was the son of Fred and Goldie (Devour) Manns. Mr. Manns retired from the City Alton street department. He enjoyed being outside, mowing the lawn and telling jokes. On February 14, 1962 he married the former Doris Fox in Hartford. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Misti Manns of Alton and Joy Fullagar of Alton, 10 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Shane Manns and William “Bill” Manns Jr., a grandson, Travis Pursely, two brothers, Franklin Lloyd Manns and George M. Manns, and a sister, Alice Hughes. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2018 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2018. Reverend Dale Covington will officiate. Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family. Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
