William Smith

William Robert Smith, 81, of Collinsville, IL, passed away at 10:10 p.m. Tues. Feb. 11, 2020, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.

He was born Feb. 3, 1939, in Granite City, IL to the late William George & Blanche (Robertson) Smith.

He and Carolyn Mercer were married Mar. 21, 1959 in Granite City.  She preceded him in death Jan. 17, 2005.

Mr. Smith had been a loan officer and bank vice-president for area banks for many years.  He was a test administrator at SWIC during his retirement.  He was a member of St. John EUCC in Granite City and was a movie buff.

He is survived by a daughter: Cindy Smith of Graham, NC; a brother: Philip (Janet) Smith of Collinsville; a sister: Phyllis Smith of Collinsville; and many friends and cousins.
