
William “Shom” Schaumleffel III, 86, of Belleville, IL, born Wednesday, September 6, 1939, in East St. Louis, IL, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Friday, June 12, 2026 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon, IL, after a long couple of years of fighting his illness.
William worked as a Operator for Monsanto for 33 years. He was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, Belleville IL, St. Clair Lodge #24 A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite Bodies, Ainad Shriners, and Quail Club. He was also a member of the United States Army Reserves. He spent his life loving his family and following his boys in all of their activities. He never missed an activity or game unless he was at work and couldn’t attend.

Funeral Home Visitation: Visitation from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, Illinois.
Church Visitation: Visitation from 10:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 2, 2026 at Christ United Church of Christ at 26 N. 14th St. in Belleville, IL.
Services: Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2026 at Christ United Church of Christ, with Rev Jon Tinge officiating. Private family internment.
