Don Henley Explains Randy Meisner's Absence From Eagles Tour

Jul 8, 2013 5:01 AM

The Eagles' Don Henley says the group was open to ex-bandmate Randy Meisner joining in on the group's current tour.  The singer tells the Milwaukee "Journal Sentinel" health reasons -- not personal disputes -- kept Meisner from signing on for the trek  Henley adds that the rest of the group is "wishing him well."  Meisner's health took a downward turn in April, after he suffered a severe choking incident.  Rusty Young -- Meisner's former Poco bandmate -- explained at the time that Randy lost consciousness when something he was eating obstructed his airwaves, and Meisner's wife had to rush him to the hospital for treatment.  In his website post three months ago, Young said it was "going to be a little rough for Randy for a while," but doctors were "optimistic" about his recovery.

The Eagles are celebrating their past on their current tour, in support of their two-part documentary "History of the Eagles."  Sets are spanning the group's entire catalog and also include select solo material, while former band member Bernie Leadon is making appearances at the shows.  The Eagles remain on the outs with ex-bandmate Don Felder.
