It was a late-inning battle between the Milwaukee Brewers and the St. Louis Cardinals Friday. St. Louis pulled off a 7-6 win in the tenth inning at Miller Park.

Aramis Ramirez got things started for Milwaukee with a three-run homer in the first inning. The third baseman finished the night with five RBIs. Milwaukee starter Johnny Hellweg allowed seven hits, walked five and hit one batter. The Brewers defense helped the right-handed rookie out with three double plays and by throwing two runners out at second.

Both teams scored a pair of runs in the ninth inning to tie the game at six and tack on an extra inning. Carlos Beltran sealed the deal for the Cardinals with a sacrifice fly in the tenth.

The opening pitch of game two goes out tonight at 6:10.
