Herrick Man Raises $300 For Suicide Prevention in Memory of His Father

Sep 21, 2013 3:38 PM

A Herrick man who suffered the loss of his father due to suicide just over one year ago, raised some 300-dollars for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, during a "drive-thru" donation day in front of the Miller Media Group radio stations in Taylorville.

Trevor Thompson's dad Mitchell died just over one year ago, and Trevor held the fund-raiser in memory of his dad to raise awareness for suicides and their prevention.

Some 38,000 people die in the United States each year from suicides.

Trevor has also organized a team that will walk in the "Out of the Darkness" Walk being held by A-F-S-P next Saturday at Effingham's Community Park.

He thanks all those who donated at Saturday's drive-thru donation day in Taylorville.
