Child on Bike Hit by UPS Truck

A child on a bicycle was hit by a UPS truck this weekend.  The nine year old boy, who’s name was not released by police was cycling in Elmira and failed to stop on the corner of West 5th Steet and Walnut Street. 

The UPS driver swerved to avoid the child but hit the him.  No action is being taken against the delivery truck driver due to the fact that the child road out in the road without consulting traffic first. 

Injuries to the child were non life threatening and he was treated on the scene and taken to the hospital for follow-up tests.
