Women of Door County, it’s your turn to step up and run for office.
Door County Elect Women will help you gather and fill out the paperwork, do mock interviews and provide support throughout the election process. However, Victoria Cerinich says the group is sticking to non-partisan elections.
Cerinich says there are many things that keep women from running for office but the biggest reason is the economy.
She says another reason is that traditionally women haven’t aspired to be the focal point of an organization. That’s not to say they can’t, most just don’t even think about the possibility.
That’s why she and more than a dozen other women are uniting – to light the spark and guide area women through the bureaucratic process.
Candidacy papers don’t circulate until December 1 so you have plenty of time to think about running for your school, town, village or county boards.
