Crusaders Defeat Panthers, 2-1, in Women's Soccer

The Panther women’s soccer team concluded non-conference action with a 2-1 loss at Valparaiso on Sunday afternoon at Brown Field. EIU falls to 0-9 on the season.

Trailing 2-0 in the 71st minute, Hannah Miller scored her first goal of the season on an assist by Meagan Radloff to get the Panthers within one. The Crusaders (6-3-1) limited the Panthers to only two shots following the goal to end the comeback effort.

Jenny Fassbinder scored her second goal of the season in the 12th minute to give Valparaiso an early 1-0 advantage. The Crusaders got their second goal of the match in the 41st minute on a goal by Sarrah Ludwig.

EIU took one more shot than Valparaiso (12-11) and committed one more foul (16-15). The Crusaders took three more corner kicks (5-2) than the Panthers in the contest.

Radloff paced the Panthers with four shots (one on goal) while Miller added two shots on goal. Ludwig had three shots (one on goal) to lead the Crusaders.

Emily Hinton (0-3) took the loss in goal for EIU, allowing two goals and making four saves. Kristen Manski (6-3-1) earned the win for the Crusaders as the senior goalkeeper made four saves while surrendering one goal.

The Panthers return to action on Sept. 27 at Belmont in the team’s Ohio Valley Conference opener.
