Openenrollmenttime for Medicare Part D is just around the corner.
Open enrollment time means that people can change their prescription plans or Medicare Advantage Plans. Carolyn Casteel, PATH Outreach Coordinator for the DeWitt County Friendship Center, says that if someone has never enrolled in a Part D, now is the time to do so. She adds that it's a good idea for seniors to start looking at their medications, as well as how much they pay. There might be a way for some premiums to be lowered depending on income. Casteel also mentions that information can be brought to her which provides the best possible scenario for a person on Medicare.
Casteel adds that there are a lot of options available. She wants to people to be able to take advantage of the programs so that they can afford all needed medications. Another reminder is for people to be careful of scams out there as well. Casteel mentions to be sure that you always look at medicare.gov. It's the official website for Medicare information.
Open Enrollment time takes place October 15-December 7th.
