ResidentsnearDouglas School in Clinton may notice a little more open space at the corner of Washington and Alexander Streets.
The home that was there has been demolished within the last week and the Clinton School District is now the owner of that property. Superintendent Dr. Jeff Holmes explains the cost to acquire the property and have it demolished was minimal, and it made sense for them to open it up.
According to Dr. Holmes, the Illinois EPA has set regulations if the district wanted to use it for additional parking, they would need to wait a lengthy amount of time. Dr. Holmes indicates the plan all along has been to expand the recreation areas for the students.
Dr. Holmes updated the Board of the progress at the School Board meeting last Tuesday.
