Mondaymorning,DeWittCounty Sheriff Jered Shofner announced his bid for re-election to his post in the 2014 election.
Sheriff Shofner says he has enjoyed his time as the County's Sheriff and says he's accomplished all the things he said he would do in his campaign.
Not only has Sheriff Shofner accomplished the goals he set out to, but he's also been instrumental in the establishment of the senior security program TRIAD. He says his goal to take care of people and treat everyone with respect.
Should the Sheriff get elected to serve another term, he recognizes the biggest challenge the County faces is drug and alcohol abuse. He explains his goal would be to come up with fresh, new ideas to battle an old problem.
Sheriff Shofner says he never forgets a real privilege serving in his position and feels DeWitt County is a great place to live, and he is proud to be the Sheriff of the County.
Jered and his wife Lisa Shofner live in rural Weldon. They will celebrate 20 years of marriage in April. Lisa has been a health care provider for seniors for 25 years. Jered serves the community in various capacities with the Clinton YMCA board, 4-H Shooting Sports Program, DOVE board, the Coalition for Bright Futures, Clinton Rotary Club, Masonic Lodge #84, and other organizations.
