Sep 24, 2013 6:34 AM

Panther soccer player Garet Christianson was named the Summit League Offensive Player of the Week following his on-field performance at the ProRehab Aces Soccer Classic on Sept. 20-22.

After missing the first four matches of the season with an injury, the redshirt-sophomore forward scored two goals in his season debut in the Panthers 4-4 tie with Green Bay on Sept. 20. He also had one goal and one assist in the Panthers 5-4 loss to Evansville on Sept. 22.

Christianson is now tied for first in the conference in goals (3) while ranking second in total points (7) behind teammate Jake Brillhart who has eight points (two goals, four assists).

Christianson is the first EIU player to be named the conference’s offensive player of the week since rejoining the Summit League in 2011. Last season, Evan Turner earned defensive player of the week honors on Nov. 5.

Denver’s Theodor Remman was named the Summit League Defensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week.

The Panthers return to action at DePaul on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 3 p.m.
