Davis Begins Path to Re-Election; Faces Tough Competition

Republican Congressman Rodney Davis of Taylorville is officially off and running for re-election. Davis formally announced his campaign at the U of I’s College of ACES Library, flanked by Champaign County GOP officials. Davis is facing a high-profile challenge in the GOP primary in the 13^th Congressional District from Urbana attorney Erika Harold. A Harvard trained African-American lawyer, Harold is a former Miss America whose previous political efforts have generated racially-tinged comments from local Republican leaders. Several Democrats have also announced intentions to run for Davis’ seat.
