Home Weatherization Program Launch

Every year, thousands of families struggle to stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer. For many in the low-income category there is the LIHEAP program. By using similar guidelines, the Madison County Community Development Office is registering families for its home weatherization program.

The program is designed to help county residents seal up their homes, according to Madison County Community Development Administrator Walter Hunter.

Renter applicants receive the same weatherization measures, but the landlord has to come up with 50% of the cost for all mechanical work. About 200 homes will be weatherized, but only 60 or so homes are currently on that list. Call 692-8940 for more information.
