Researchers in Britain suggest people prescribed anti-depressants may boost their risk of type 2 diabetes. The University of Southampton team studied medical records and found a possible link. However, there is no proof that one necessarily caused the other. The team told the journal "Diabetes Care" that it may be that people taking anti-depressants put on weight which, in turn, increased their risk for the disease. They also say the drugs themselves may interfere with blood sugar control. They add that more research is required to investigate what factors lie behind the findings.
