Madigan Wants Federal Crackdown On E-Cigarettes

AttorneyGeneralLisa Madigan wants the FDA to ban youth from buying e-cigarettes. The items are very popular among young people but Madigan’s spokesperson Natalie Bauer says they come with very few restrictions.

Madigan spokesperson Natalie Bauer says the nicotine based items are becoming very popular among minors.

Madigan is joining about 40 other AG’s across the nation, asking for stricter regulations regarding the ingredients of the electronic smokes. They also want rules that ensure the e-cigarettes aren’t marketed to young people. A new law in Illinois is already aimed at keeping the smokes out of the hands of minors. Come January 1st, no one under 18 will be allowed to buy them.
