City Leaders Ready For 2013 Apple and Pork Festival

Sep 25, 2013 7:31 AM

Thebusiestweekendof the year in Clinton is this weekend, and Clinton city leaders are gearing up for another large crowd.

The 45th annual Apple and Pork Festival takes place this weekend in Clinton and local leaders are hard at work getting things together. Public Works Director for the City of Clinton, Steve Lobb is impressed with the longevity of the event and the fact each year it continues to remain strong.

Regulars to the Apple and Pork Festival the past few years may know the closure of Center Street a few years ago has worked out very well for allowing pedestrian traffic. Lobb notes that has been a positive change to the festival and has allowed for better, safer access to the grounds for the tens-of-thousands that attend.

Lobb admits, the plan to close Center Street had been talked about for many years, and he was one that was adamantly against it. He felt traffic would slow down for people trying to get into town. He says the change has been a very good one for the festival.

This year's festival takes place Saturday and Sunday of this week. Be sure to keep your radio tuned to the Big 1520 AM/92.3 FM WHOW and 95.9 FM WEZC as we continue to highlight this year's festival and we'll bring over 20 hours of live coverage from the event throughout the weekend.
