The Big Ten has already started conference play - Wisconsin beat Purdue 41-10 last weekend - but this Saturday night is the first marquee game between league opponents.

The 23rd-ranked Badgers endured one of the more bizarre losses of the college football season at Arizona State on Sept. 14. The clock ran out while Wisconsin was trying to set up a field goal to win the game. The Pac-12 later issued a statement acknowledging errors by its officiating crew.

A win over fourth-ranked Ohio State would go a long way toward helping the Badgers get over the loss to Arizona State - if they haven't already.

Northern Illinois's football team will play Northwestern in 2014, the first matchup between the two teams since 2005.

The schools say the game will be the eighth between the two programs since 1975. It's set for Sept. 6 at Northwestern's Ryan Field.

Northwestern has won 6 of the past seven games in the series. A 1987 matchup ended in a 16-16 tie.

The Wildcats beat the Huskies 38-37 during the 2005 game.

>>Penn State To See Scholarships Restored

(State College, PA) -- Penn State football is gradually getting scholarships back following the Jerry Sandusky scandal. They were stripped away for what the NCAA called a "football first" culture. The organization also claimed that stance led to the enabling of sexual abuse carried out by the former assistant coach. The program will be restored to 85 scholarships gradually by the 2016-2017 school year. Penn State is currently paying a 60-million dollar fine and is in the second year of a five-year ban on postseason play because of the scandal.

>>UCLA Wants To Build Football Training Facility

(Los Angeles, CA) -- UCLA athletic officials are asking for 50-million dollars to build a new football training facility on campus. The proposed building would pay homage to UCLA football along with housing a locker room, training room, meeting and video room. Bruins head football coach Jim Mora says the building will be designed to help with player development. Construction on campus will not begin until certain fundraising goals are reached.
