Four local high school volleyball teams competed in the 2013 Pink out yesterday at Southern Door High School to raise money for Door Cancer. Southern Door won the quad with Sturgeon Bay finishing second, Sevastopol third and Gibraltar fourth.

Throughout the night, there were chances for people to donate money that benefited Door Cancer. All four schools auctioned off their pink game ball and whoever raised the most money got bragging rights. All four schools combined to donate $2,108 to Door Cancer with Sevastopol donating the most with $661. Grand total rose from shirt sales, 50/50 raffle and donations will be released in next couple days.

Southern Door first played Sevastopol winning the match (25-18, 25-20) then followed up with a win over Gibraltar (25-12, 25-20). The final match of the night for the Eagles was a big win against rival Sturgeon Bay. It marked the third time the Eagles and Clippers faced off this season and the Eagles now hold a 2-1 record. Sturgeon Bay took the first game (25-23), but  then the Eagles started the second game on a 19-0 when Megan Hawkey tallied 19 straight service points and Eagles took game two (25-13). The third set finished (15-13) in a back in forth finale.

Sturgeon Bay’s victories came against Sevastopol and Gibraltar in straight sets (25-10, 25-14. 25-19, 25-20). The Pioneers beat Gibraltar (25-23, 25-19) and Vikings finished (0-3).

Thursday will feature rematches when Southern Door plays at Sevastopol and the Clippers will be at Gibraltar.
