The Kinks Might Go On 50th Anniversary Tour

Sep 26, 2013 7:04 AM

The Kinks guitarist Dave Davies says there's a "50-50" chance that he and brother Ray Davies will reunite for a 50th anniversary tour next year.  Dave tells "Rolling Stone" the animosity remains between the two of them, but he still really wants to "do something with Ray" before they "both decay and decompose."  He adds that he met with Ray a few times over the summer to discuss the possibilities.  Davies says the first two meetings "were great," but the last time they got together Ray was "so negative, grumpy, and just mean."  He adds while he's voiced his desire to reteam for a tour, now "the ball is very much in Ray's court."

A reunion also wouldn't feature all the original band members.  Bassist Pete Quaife died in 2010, and Dave has no desire to work with drummer Mick Avory again.  He adds that the group needs "new people," explaining that "sometimes when you're with the same old people, you get the same old thing."
