Sep 26, 2013 7:11 AM

Twitter is launching a new program to keep people updated during emergencies.  The Twitter Alerts program will allow local and national institutions to send out alerts to users who follow them on the social network.  Approved organizations will be able to send a tweet and tag it critical.
