New Farm Equipment Challenges Rural Roads

Farm machinery keeps getting bigger, yet it still needs to travel on rural roads built decades ago. Dave Vieth of the State Department of Transportation says that’s part of the concern with proposed changes to the rules governing farm equipment on the highway.

One major change -- oversized vehicles would need to be better marked.

The proposed rule changes still need to be approved in Madison.
