The Madison County Sheriff's Department has been observing local schools recently as they practice security drills. Similar to disaster drills, the security drills are an opportunity to practice what to do in the case of a security emergency, if one should ever present itself. There has been a renewed focus on school safety since the Sandy Hook shootings last December.
Madison County Sheriff's Department Patrol Commander Will Dimitroff says they are there to assist the schools in making sure they are ready in case of a man-made crisis.
